Make A Pledge

As an individual, you can stand up and be counted for your commitment to environmental stewardship!  Specifically, you are being asked to make one or more commitments that will lead to reductions of at least one tonne in your green-house gas emissions.

To help determine your current level of green-house gas emissions, and to suggest possible commitments to help reduce them, the One-Tonne Challenge, developed by Environment Canada, will be a useful tool.

Here are your instructions:

  1. Take the One-Tonne Challenge.  You can either do this using your computer and the Internet, or by hand, using the One-Tonne Challenge booklet.
    1. By computer: visit www.climatechange.gc.ca/onetonne/calculator/ to calculate your current emissions and then develop a reductions plan.  The instructions are all on-line.
    2. By hand: One-Tonne Challenge booklets are available free-of-charge from Environment Canada.  You can likely get one via your parish environmental steward.  If not, they can be ordered by phone at 1-800-O Canada, or you can download a copy of it from the Environment Canada website (hyperlink to: www.climatechange.gc.ca/onetonne/english/otc_order_form.asp), or order one on-line by filling in the form at: (hyperlink to same address above).
  2. Share your results by inputting the totals for your current emissions and your reductions plan.  They can be inputted directly into the form below.
